About
I started my career in family therapy, but most of my experience has come from doing crisis counseling. I would sum it up as meeting people of all ages at some of their most difficult moments—usually just once, for intervention. It involves making a lot of referrals. Over time, I found myself wanting to support clients beyond this. I wanted to see their stories unfold, help them navigate the long haul of grief or trauma recovery, and watch them grow into newfound resilience.
In the early days of private practice, I continued working in emergency services while renting an office space at Salem Psychology Associates. Although I started small, only seeing one or two clients (enough to pay office rent), it allowed me time to contract with Medicaid and seek specialized training to ensure more people could afford my services and they were the best I could offer. Before long, the practice began to expand. I was able to see more individuals and families, and use modalities like Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and even Exposure Therapy [find out more on the Services tab]).
Kyle Lincoln Counseling Services may someday expand beyond myself, but for now it’s a setting where clients have the freedom to explore whatever is weighing on them, with enough consistency to see genuine progress. Whether someone is untangling long-term family issues, grappling with trauma, or simply seeking a deeper sense of well-being, I’m grateful to offer the tools, understanding, and continuity of care that crisis work never quite allowed. Being able to watch individuals develop fresh insights, build resilience, and embrace new possibilities is what makes this journey worthwhile, and it remains the driving purpose behind the practice today.
